Spika
Maintenance Platforms ... the investment that pays for itself

Spika's line of aircraft maintenance platforms are arguably the
highest quality, best designed fall protection stands available
to the commercial and military industries
today.
These platforms allow the maintenance technician to
access upper-level service zones efficiently, improving overall
productivity, while providing critical fall protection and assuring
a safe work environment in accordance with OSHA 1910.
The
initial cost of a well-designed, high quality work platform can
be offset by higher productivity, better quality workmanship
and a safer work area.
Phase Systems
Depot-level Phase Maintenance Systems designed and manufactured
by Spika Welding & Mfg offer designs and features found on no other system,
establishing them as the finest in wrap-around aircraft work
platforms.
From a user-friendly extruded aluminum plank deck to
our proprietary pneumatic slider locking device, these systems
make upper-level maintenance access safer, easier and more
efficient. Easily assembled and disassembled without the need
for tools, Spika's modules are stable and easily moved, thanks
to high-quality industrial casters, brakes and quick-couple
De-Sta-Co clamps.
Compare the competition, and
you'll agree that Spika's Phase Platforms are by far the better
value. More features, more pounds of aluminum, better
engineering and design and quality welds by Certified
Aluminum Welders compliant with AWS-D1.2 all add up to a
superior product at a very competitive price.
The UMS Family of Universal Maintenance
Stands

Common thinking used to hold that a "Maintenance Stand" fell
into one of two categories: either a full wrap-around system
used only when depot-level extensive maintenance was being
performed, or a "B-Series" check stand used for daily service
and inspection.
Spika has introduced the new generation of daily
work platforms that combine the best features of both, while
allowing unmatched versatility, efficiency, and safety. The
modularity of the UMS family makes Spika's stands a mandatory
tool for any aviation facility, ranging
in size from the UMS58, suited to the Kiowa and similar small
aircraft, up through the UMS47 and UMS130 Series, large enough
to access engines and components of Chinooks and C-130 Hercs. Whether used as a stand-alone check stand or
linked together to form longer, complete fall protection
systems, Spika's UMS family offers unmatched usability and value.
Unlike the B-Series stands of yesterday, Spika's UMS family is
constructed of 6000 series aluminum, rendering them lightweight,
easy to position and non-rusting. Unlike many of the B-Series,
these stands have a very small footprint, a significant factor
in many densely packed facilities. Spika's UMS
stands have no hydraulics to leak or seep; instead, they employ
manual screw actuators that easily and positively position the
heights. Perhaps one of the greatest improvements is the ability
to break these stands down and palletize them for shipping and
deployment ... something the B-Series stands were never able to do well.
Each module of Spika's UMS family is
completely stable and usable independent of others, unlike the full wrap-around Phase platforms.
When using one of Spika's UMS stands, the maintenance tech need not spend hours setting up a
system to access the key areas, but merely roll the UMS stand into
position, lock the brakes and begin working.
Yet, Spika's UMS modules
afford ample work deck areas and OSHA-compliant fall protection,
with the versatility of being able to access numerous areas on
various different aircraft with the same model stand. Are the
stairs in the way in this configuration? No problem ... just pull two
quick-release pins and relocate the stair module to another
location. Is a longer work deck required? Simply roll two or
three platforms together, connect the attached linkage bars, and
lift the center railings out of their sockets and store to the
side. Simple, safe and efficient - that's the focus of the
Spika UMS family of Universal Maintenance Stands.
Specialty Platforms

Do you have a particular need that is specific to your facility
or aircraft? Spika has the ability to design and manufacture
exactly what you need.
When the USAF needed specialized stands
to access difficult locations on the B2 Stealth Bomber, they
chose Spika Welding & Mfg to design, engineer and manufacture exactly what
they required. When the USCG fielded their new CASA-235 fixed
wing surveillance aircraft, they selected Spika Welding to design and
furnish a complete set of stands to facilitate daily and
depot-level maintenance to the entire aircraft.
Using
state-of-the-art three-dimensional computer modeling, Spika
takes the project from concept through development,
blueprinting, manufacturing, delivery and on-site assembly (if
required). The customer is interacting directly with the design
engineer and manufacturer, not a marketer, so details and
requirements can be communicated easily and accurately. The end
result is a product that functions as envisioned and becomes an
invaluable tool, not an accumulation of scrap in the back lot.
