In response to a need for an easy to use, highly versatile, and economical multi-application work stand, Spika introduces the latest in the Alpha Series of Universal Maintenance Stands: The Alpha Charlie.
Possessing all of the features of the original Alpha Stand, such as a compact footprint, 24- and 36-inch height adjustability, and Spika's Variable Pitch Stair System, the Alpha C adds the benefit of electric height activation. The Alpha C can operate on either 120VAC or 12VDC, using the self-contained deep cycle battery with on-board charger and maintainer. Never has an industrial duty production and maintenance platform offered such ease of operation and versatility.
Like all of the Alpha Series, the Alpha C allows multiple "stair to bridge deck" configurations, allowing you to maximize your limited floor space. With minimum height settings as low as 48", bridge decks can easily elevate an additional 24 inches, while the unique design of the Alpha VPS stair module can start as low as 48" and elevate its work platform to over seven feet. If required, extra-height versions can be ordered that offer taller minimum and maximum dimensions with the same adjustable ranges.
The Alpha Series utilizes Spika's unique "Quick Latch" system for connecting modules, providing tool-free, pin-free, positive and immediate coupling and decoupling. And like all of Spika's products, the Alpha uses Spika's CamLock safety rails for quick, tool-free installation and relocation of railing without the fear of losing parts. An added feature is the simple storage accommodation for railing sections unused in particular configurations. As with other industrial-quality Spika work platforms, the Alpha deck is constructed with high quality, high strength extruded aluminum planking that eliminates springiness and buckling.
The versatility of the Alpha series allows multiple bridge decks to be easily coupled together to form longer work areas, while the VPS stair module may be used independently as a highly versatile single-person work stand.
Constructed of lightweight and corrosion-resistant 6000 series aluminum, the Alpha Charlie 12VDC system comes equipped with a 12V deep cycle battery and charger/maintainer on each bridge and stair module. Both AC and DC models come standard with:
- powder-coated safety yellow hand rails,
- dual bridge deck actuators,
- right- and left- hand switches on the stair module,
- 8" urethane-on-aluminum maintenance-free casters,
- five-year warranty poly bushings in all telescopic assemblies, and
- soft-durometer protective D-rubber on the leading edge of the work deck.
While Spika designed the Alpha Series to aid in reducing process times and improving operational efficiency, the system also reflects our commitment to improving the safety of the workplace. The load ratings of 400 pounds for the stair deck and 800 pounds for the bridge deck are engineered and tested to a 4X safety margin; all safety railings comply with OSHA standards for fall protection. The electric actuators, by nature, are fail-safe; unlike hydraulic systems, they cannot fail and allow the platform to fall. All walkways are ribbed for excellent traction, with more aggressive serrated ribs on stair treads, and all casters have high-quality brakes to assure the platform remains stationary.
